Tile Types
We use ceramic and tumbled
stone; porcelain and others upon request. Our tiles are as close to WHITE as possible as the tile acts as our “canvas” for
the colors we use.
(Please note: All tile sizes and the final
resulting mural size is dependent on size of the base tile used including
spacers. The exact size of a completed product will vary based on tile type,
spacer size and manufacture date. As well, individual tile sizes within a tile
type and size will vary slightly and therefore the final size of your
product will vary. [Natural Stone tiles will have more variance] We cannot
guarantee the final 'exact' size of your product. IMPORTANT: Once your art on
tile is complete, the tiles should not be cut or drilled at all. Please make
sure you order the final size if you need a custom fit, and we will cut to size
before we manufacture!! [again within the tile size variances])

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE
TWO
Our ceramic tiles

are like the traditional white tiles you see
in a lot of kitchens and bathrooms. The sizes we use for all of our
backsplashes are traditionally 4.25” x 4.25” OR 6” x 6”. All ceramic tiles have “spacers” that are a part of the tile. When the
tiles are placed next to each other, the spacers touch and create a 1/16th
of an inch grout line in-between each tile. These tiles are 1/4 inch thick.

looks more like tumbled marble. It does have
the “natural” veining and pitting throughout the tile along with some of the
corners and edges being a bit rough looking. All of this gives the mural a more
“old world” look and feel. We get tiles that are as close to white as possible
but they have the physical visual characteristics shown in the photos above.
Their sizes are 4” x 4” OR 6” x 6”. There are NO SPACERS on these tiles…so, you
may place them as close or as far apart as you would like when installing. These
tiles are 3/8 inch thick. Stone is a
natural product subject to variations in color, shade, veining, exact size per
piece and polish. These variations are what make natural stone unique. Although
this photo (above) accurately represents this species of stone, variations will
occur.
NEW SIZES AVAILABLE: We are now offering new options
for you tile art tile selections. We are offering 1, 2 and 3 inch square tile in both
ceramic
(click to see Ceramic 2 Inch Tile sheet) and tumbled stone (click
to see Tumbled Stone 2 inch tile sheet) both on a mesh backing coming in 12
inch by 12 inch sheets. We are also now offering sheets of 1 inch tiles as
well!!! There may be a slight price difference for these new tile
types. We also offer larger size stone floor tiles (12x12, 18x18 and other
available on request) with a non-skid finish for flooring and outdoors. (click
to see Stone non-skid floor tile). As well, we are offering standard sizes
of Porcelain tiles including 4 inch tiles. Prices for the larger tiles and
Porcelain tiles are available on request.
COMING SOON, we will be offering a new mosaic tile offered
in larger sizes. Please ask for pricing differences upon order. We also are
looking into Custom color trim and molding, so ask if you are interested.
If you want to match either
tile type for the rest of your wall, go to
www.daltile.com and find a distributor in your area. That’s where we buy our
blank tiles. However, it is very easy to find tiles to match at just about any
tile or home improvement store.
For larger projects (murals
over 24x36), we can get single tiles as large as they make them in that
tile type with examples of 8" x 8", 12” x 12”, 18” x 18”, 24” x 24”. Not all
tile types come in all sizes, so please ask if you have any questions.
